UPDATE: Police deny arresting businessman over Fidel’s death
The police have distanced themselves from media reports that claimed controversial businessman Paul Kobia had been arrested in connection to the unraveled death of Fidel Odinga.
Acting Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi released a statement on Thursday in which he explained how the family of Mr Kobia had sought the help of police officers at Gigiri police station to restrain the businessman who was acting violently.
“We want to clarify that Mr Kobia was taken to Gigiri police station by his family who wanted to be assisted in having him restrained and escorted to a psychiatrist after he started shouting incoherently and acting violently.
“The said Kobia has therefore not been arrested as such,” the statement by Mr Arachi said.
Nairobi News had earlier exclusively how the businessman was rushed to Aga Khan hospital for mental examination.
Mr Kobia, according to the police, had also claimed that he was behind the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s son, Fidel Odinga.
