Veteran politician Ole Ntimama passes on at 86


Veteran politician and former Cabinet Minister William Ole Ntimama is dead.

Ntimama died at his Narok home on Thursday night.

According to Narok Police boss, Abdi Galgalo, the family says the former Member of Parliament for Narok North constituency died of natural causes and his body has been transported to Nairobi.

At the time of his death, Ntimama was aged 86 years.

The late Ntimama retired from active politics in September 2013. Prior to his retirement, he was the MP for Narok North on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

At various points of his long political career, the late Ntimama served as a Cabinet Minister in the governments of retired presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki.

Some of the key ministerial portfolios that he held were Ministry of National Heritage & Culture, Ministry of State in the Office of the President, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Transport and Communication, Ministry of Supplies and Marketing and Ministry of Local Government.

The late Ntimama was last seen in public at State House, Nairobi two weeks ago when he led a group of Maasai leaders to join the Jubilee Party.
