Woman surrenders to police after ‘stabbing’ boyfriend in Kirinyaga

Police in Kirinyaga are holding a 38-year-old woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death.

The suspect after reportedly committing the heinous act on September 10, 2023, is said to have turned herself in at Kagio police station two days later.

Police said in a report the victim was stabbed five times by the suspect who works in the area as a barmaid at the trading centre.

“The man succumbed to excessive bleeding and authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the woman’s actions,” the report said.

The couple according to the police, were residents of Gichugu Constituency and had rented a house along Baricho Road in the commercial centre.

The police said they are seeking assistance from the suspect to recover the murder weapon, a knife, which as of now, remains undiscovered.

Police believe she hid the weapon after stabbing her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspect linked to the murder of an Egyptian national was murdered in Kikuyu, Kiambu county.

The suspect was arrested in his Bungoma home days after the incident.

The suspect, identified as Maxwell Wafula, was traced to his home county by detectives investigating the murder of Awny Karim Arisha Gouda, 45.

According to neighbours, the two reportedly quarrelled inside the house, leading to Gouda’s fatal stabbing to the head.

Wafula then fled to Gikambura Health Centre with his blood-stained clothes, where he sought medical attention.

A day later, he boarded a bus to his rural home, where he was tracked down and arrested over the weekend.

He later led police to his property in Bobotano, where a blood-stained T-shirt was found.

Police also found documents showing that he had sought medical treatment at Gikambura Health Centre.

A kitchen knife believed to have been used in the murder was found at the scene, police said.
