The world fell in love with Kenya’s national anthem and we didn’t notice
Kenya’s national anthem awed the world’s netizens on Sunday at the Rio Olympics closing ceremony during the medal presentation for marathon gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge.
Social media users across the world were smitten by the tune of the anthem, with some vowing to learn its lyrics before the 2020 Olympics.
They took to Twitter and Facebook to share their ‘discovery’of what they termed as the best national anthem.

The tune of Kenya’s national anthem tune was borrowed from a Pokomo lullaby but the lyrics were written by an advisory committee formed in 1963 before independence and tasked to come up with a prayerful anthem.
