Zari Hassan’s childhood ‘dream’ to marry rich man

Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan recently opened up about her childhood dreams of marrying a wealthy man and living a lavish lifestyle.

In an interview with BBC Swahili, the South African-based reality TV star revealed that as a young girl, she imagined herself adorned in satin gold, enjoying a life of opulence.

However, as she matured, she quickly realized that turning those childhood fantasies into reality was a more formidable task than she had initially thought.

Married to Shakib Cham, Zari emphasised that she had to work hard to bring to fruition the extravagant life she had envisioned for herself.

“I used to think I would get married to a rich man and wear gold, but I said it is not easy. When I realized I wanted a good life, I got the motivation to say I don’t come from a rich family, but it was my responsibility,” Zari expressed.

“I said I wanted a good life, and that has been my motivation in life to say I want a good life,” she added.

This dream appeared to come true as Zari briefly married South African based Ugandan tycoon Ivan Ssemwanga before she dumped him for Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, also a wealth man in his own right.

Zari Hassan and Shakib Cham Lutaaya celebrated their union in a vibrant white wedding on October 3, 2023.

Their journey to matrimony commenced with a modest Muslim ceremony in April 2023, held in the intimacy of a home.

Zari and Shakib reaffirmed their commitment with a more elaborate and colorful white wedding ceremony, hosted in South Africa.

Among the distinguished guests at the event was Fantana, the Ghanaian musician, who had a romantic history with Zari’s former partner, Diamond Platnumz.

Despite the joyous occasion, Zari and Shakib faced social media scrutiny due to their notable age difference, with many criticizing Zari for choosing a younger partner.

The socialite, however, didn’t hesitate to defend her choice, addressing critics in a past interview:

“Shakib is not a child. He is old enough to have an affair with me. I am 42 years and he is 30, what’s the problem with that?” Zari asserted. “I have seen men who go into marriage with underage women, and they are left to move freely, so get a life. I am not committing any crime,” she added.

Proving the skeptics wrong, the mother of five has showcased a flourishing relationship with Shakib on social media, sharing glimpses of their shared goals and happiness.
