County reps come to near blows during meeting

A nominated Cord County Representative turned physical against a fellow nominated colleague over a certain gentleman.  ODM’s Immaculate Musya and Petronilla Nafula engaged in an altercation that disrupted a City Hall  Trade Committee meeting.

Ms Musya threw order papers at Ms Nafula before the two women engaged in a bitter exchange of words.

Committee chairman

Peter Warutere had hard time calming them and urging them to stop using unprintable expletives at each other.

“It was very dishonourable the way the two elderly reps attacked each other. The names they called each other showed there was something more than political differences,” said Mr Warutere.

On Thursday, Ms Musya defended “her anger” and accused Ms Nafula of interfering with her family. “She had an ill motive,” Ms Musya told NairobiNews.

Ms Nafula denied the accusation. Ms Musya, however, said evidence from Safaricom and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, where she reported the matter, had left no doubt whose handset was used.

Disciplinary action

City Hall’s Head of Investigations Geoffrey Kathurima was yet to receive a complaint from either of the two combatants.

Mr Warutere was yesterday under pressure to write to the Cord Majority leader in the House for removal from the committees as a disciplinary action.

The incident forced Speaker Alex Ole Magelo to issue a stern communication from the chair on the code of conduct of the members.

“We must desist from policing each other. The witch hunting going on here is bad for performance. I will be very strict on members conduct from today,” Mr Magelo told an attentive assembly.
