David Ndii reveals how wasteful Ruto’s government is
Economist David Ndii, who is the Chairperson of President William Ruto’s Economic Council, has spilled the beans on how the current administration is wasting public resources.
Without pointing out how the government is wasteful, the chief advisor in President Ruto’s government said that he is not pleased by the current deteriorating situation.

“Government is extremely wasteful. There is not a single day that I’m not exasperated by not just how wasteful it is, but by how deliberate it is and how unbothered people are,” Mr Ndii said during an interview with Citizen TV on Monday (April 10) night.
The economist said that the attempts by the President to cut the losses and unnecessary spending in the government have not succeeded due to the deep-rooted culture of the nation, where a huge number of officials must attend a certain event.
“I have watched even the President frustrated. He said we are trying to put, for example on foreign trips, this is going to be the limit of the number of people that are going to take on foreign trips, he gets there, there are three times the number. Where did the people come from? No one knows. They have their own ways, some are paid by their donors, others by NGOs.”

Mr Ndii added that it is not only the current government that is wasteful and that there is a need to strengthen systems to get more value for money, like strengthening the office of the Auditor General and automation of government’s procurement, among others.
This comes even as the government of President Ruto swears in 50 Cabinet Assistant Secretaries (CAS) in addition to the 51 principal secretaries (PSs).
The opposition side and several Kenyans have criticized the President for bloating the government compared to the previous regime of Uhuru Kenyatta, which comes when the economy of the country is not stable.
Also, the cost of the high-cost living has long been a trending debate in the country, an issue which the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Mr Raila Odinga took to the streets.
