The Harambee Stars national team left the country on Monday to take part in the ongoing four-nation tournament in Mauritius.

A 23-man squad and technical bench members left the country aboard a chartered Kenya Airways plane at 10pm.

The team is expected to arrive in Mauritius by 3pm. Mauritius, Kenya, Djibouti and Pakistan are participating in the ongoing tournament from June 11 to June 18.

Turkish coach Engin Firat has named a squad that includes four players who have reported for camp.

They are Alpha Onyango of Gor Mahia, Kenya Police winger Alvin Mangeni and the Bandari duo of goalkeeper Simon Masaka and Mohamed Siraj.

Azam midfielder Kenneth Muguna will also be absent as his side are expected to face Tanzanian champions Yanga SC in the league cup.

Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu has also been ruled out through injury and was not included in the final list.

Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah, who was one of the first players to be called up to the national team, made the cut along with Kariobangi Sharks’ Kevin Luke Otiala and KCB goalkeeper Bryne Omondi.

Harambee Stars will take on Pakistan on Wednesday before playing their final match against hosts Mauritius on 18 June.

Stars were originally scheduled to leave on Saturday but the trip was cancelled due to financial and logistical challenges.

Stars were due to take on Djibouti in their first match on Sunday, but the match was cancelled as the team didn’t travel.
