MP Ronald Karauri criticised for offering ‘lion’s den’ pastor trip to Maasai Mara
Kasarani Member of Parliament, Ronald Karauri has found himself at the center of a social media storm after he publicly offered to sponsor a trip to Maasai Mara for an unidentified pastor who recently locked himself in a lion’s den as part of a re-enactment of a biblical scene.
The controversy unfolded on Wednesday, September 28, when MP Karauri expressed his desire to take the daring pastor, identified as Daniel, on an all-expenses-paid journey to Maasai Mara to witness lions in their natural habitat.
Onlookers believed to be members of his congregation, gasped in astonishment as the pastor was said to have placed his hand inside the lion’s jaws.
The pastor had gained notoriety after a video of him casually interacting with three lions in a re-enactment of the biblical story of Daniel in the lion’s den went viral.

“I volunteer to take him to the Maasai Mara, please, all expenses paid. We can look for the lions, and he can go walk with them,” the MP enthusiastically proclaimed.
However, Karauri’s offer didn’t sit well with some of his alleged constituents, who expressed disappointment in his priorities and public service.
@abuyamasta voiced frustration, saying, “Ruai floods, and people can’t walk due to the mud, and you’re here posting such things. Do your job; you were elected for a reason.”
@FarouqOtyeno suggested an alternative, stating, “The pastor needs to be sponsored to Tsavo National Park. The Park has a reasonable supply of the ideal lions to play with.”
@TheHustler254 urged the MP to focus on pressing local issues, commenting: “Mhesh, sponsor the people of Ruai with roads… you know how it floods, and the roads become impassable when it rains, yet El Niño is coming! The pastor can surely afford to sponsor himself to Maasai Mara!”
@GlenMadenge: “Tell that pastor to go lock himself in a fully grown lion’s den and leave the cubs alone; then, we will believe him.”
@MsZubby: All expenses paid na pesa ya constituents? Weka drainage na lighting Ruai. I volunteer to take you around Ruai when it’s rained…All expenses paid.”
