Nairobi’s top hotels nominated for global travel awards


Top Nairobi hotels  are among the nominees for this year’s world travel awards.

Kenyan resorts and tour firms have also been listed among the nominees for the awards, bringing hope to tourism recovery campaigns.

In the Africa’s leading city hotel category, Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel, Hemingways, InterContinental and Serena Hotel have been listed among 14 nominees.

And in the Africa’s leading business hotel category,  Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel and Tribe Hotel have been listed among 15 nominees.

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre has been nominated in the Africa’s leading meeting and conference centre category.

Nairobi city is also among six cities nominated in the Africa’s leading meeting and conference destination category.

The winners of the prestigious awards will be announced at the 22nd Annual World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa and Indian Ocean gala at Kempinski Seychelles Resort in the Seychelles on June 20.

The nomination of Kenyan resorts for the WTA awards, dubbed the “Oscars of the travel industry”, comes at a time the tourism sector is on its knees.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the nominees of the 22nd annual World Travel Awards,” reads the announcement on the WTA website.
