MP Babu Owino denounces false marriage allegations

Embakasi East MP, Paul Ongili, popularly known as Babu Owino, has vehemently refuted rumours circulating online suggesting that his marriage is in turmoil.

Responding to the viral story, the outspoken lawmaker took to social media to set the record straight and defend the sanctity of his union with Fridah Muthoni Ongili.

Babu Owino, who shares two daughters with his wife Fridah, addressed the malicious claims propagated by certain blogs, alleging that his first child was fathered by another man.

Dismissing these allegations as baseless fabrications concocted by his political adversaries, the MP expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the strength and happiness of his marriage despite the relentless attacks.

“I have been seeing this article in different blogs for more than 6 years now. Our political enemies are very active, which is expected, but our God is stronger. Despite such attacks, I thank God that He continues to keep my marriage strong, happy and full of joy and love,” Babu Owino asserted, sharing screenshots of the misleading articles.

The lawmaker’s assertions were met with overwhelming support from his followers, who rallied behind him, condemning the spread of false information and expressing admiration for his resilience in the face of adversity.

Reacting to the outpouring of support, one user, kiki.g.kinyua, questioned the motives behind such malicious rumours, while ex_pensi.ve commended Babu Owino hailing him as a beacon of wisdom and leadership.

Despite the unwarranted scrutiny, Babu Owino remains steadfast in his dedication to his family, often showcasing his affection for his wife and daughters on social media.

This is not the first time that Babu has had to defend his love for his wife. Babu revealed that their union was frowned upon by many because Muthoni was not from his Luo tribe.

But the parliamentarian is a firm believer in the power of love to transcend tribal boundaries.

“This is the person God meant for me to marry. She is the one God has planned for my life. Love triumphs. Love conquers tribalism. Despite the gossip, I made a conscious decision, the right decision, without any regrets,” the father of two affirmed.

On Father’s Day last year, he shared a heartfelt message celebrating his role as a father and expressing gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon him.

“Happy Father’s Day to the Almighty God. A father who never disappoints. Mathew 23:9, You have one father and He is in heaven,” the MP captioned a photo of him embracing his beautiful daughters.

In an interview with TV47, the MP reflected on his enduring marriage to Fridah, describing her as a pillar of strength and unwavering support throughout their 13 years together.

“I am incredibly blessed to have Fridah Muthoni Ongili as my wife, I do not regret having her,” he said in the interview while revealing that he met his spouse when she was a first-year student at Nairobi University.

“I never lack time for my family; wife and kids. Every day, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to have such a loving and supportive wife,” he said.
