Starehe blames teachers strikes for poor results

Starehe Boys Centre has blamed the 2012, 2013 teachers’ strikes for the school’s poor results in the just released KCSE results.

Principal Paul Mugo, while addressing a press conference on Monday, said the two strikes interfered with the momentum of form three and form four students.

Starehe Boys dropped from position 12 in the 2012 KCSE to position 17 nationally in last year’s exam with a mean grade of 74.757, which translates to a B+.

Pangani Girls also dropped down the performance ladder from position 23 to 43 in the 2013 exam, with a mean score of 70.281, also a B+.

The silence in both schools was evidence of their disappointment with last year’s exam results.

The guards at the gates were on strict orders not to let the Press in.

The guard at Pangani Girls said that the principal and her deputy were at Mitihani House getting the full results for their candidates. He however said they would be available at 4pm.

Students in both schools were in class going about their daily routine, as there was little to celebrate.
