Actress Ini Edo: Why I am still single at 41

Renowned Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has shared candid insights into the reason behind her current single status.

In an engaging interview with media personality Toke Makinwa on the latest episode of her podcast, Tokemoment, the talented actress said she has not found real love.

The 41-year-old actress, who had previously tied the knot with Edo businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008, shedding light on her journey, explained that her marriage experienced turbulence and ultimately ended in 2014.

In the heartfelt conversation, Ini Edo unveiled a sincere desire for a love that is not only genuine but also anchored in mutual respect.

She emphasised the importance of finding a partner who could earn her respect and treat her with kindness.

“I am single because I just want somebody that will really love me. I can’t be in a toxic relationship if you can’t give me that protective energy that allows me to respect you. I cannot be with a man that I don’t respect,” Ini Edo expressed during the podcast.

The accomplished actress went on to stress the significance of respect in a relationship, stating:

“If you can’t earn my respect, then we cannot be together. What’s the point! If you get to a point where the man starts to disrespect you, that means you have brought yourself down to a point where I begin to talk back at you, I begin to disrespect you, even if you don’t have it is about how you are able to manage the situation and the people around you: kindness.”

In February, Ini Edo firmly advocated for body modifications and cosmetic enhancements.

Addressing those who engage in body-shaming or judgment, she asserted that no one has the right to dictate another’s life choices.

She encourages women to be confident in their decisions and dismisses external pressures.

Ini Edo reflected on her own experiences with public opinions on her body, emphasizing the need for individuals to grow beyond external judgments and assert control over their own lives.

“…But you need to grow to a point where you realize that it is your body, it is your life, nobody else has the right to tell you do this or don’t do this. It is your right to say this is what I want to look like, this is how I want to look…”
