Akothee – ‘I’m the chief officer of failed marriages’

Renowned entertainer Esther Akothee, popularly known as Akothee, has candidly acknowledged that the failures of her marriages are her own doing.

The multifaceted artist, who recently experienced the dissolution of her second marriage, has expressed a realization that matrimony may not be destined for her.

Akothee’s marriage to Swiss Denis Schweizer, also known as Omosh, came to an end just two months after a lavish wedding ceremony at the Windsor Hotel in Nairobi earlier this year.

With this recent setback, Akothee has introspected and concluded that her approach to relationships might be the underlying cause of her failed marriages.

In a self-reflective statement, Akothee admitted, “I love myself to the extent that sometimes I feel like I’m too selfish, that’s why I’m the chief officer of failed marriages.”

She went on to acknowledge that she doesn’t need reminders of her relationship struggles, as she is well aware that romantic partnerships with her have proven challenging.

Despite her acknowledgement of shortcomings in relationships, Akothee highlighted her strengths in other areas.

“I’m the guru when it comes to marketing and all that. If you want me to advise you, let it be on business but not on relationships,” she asserted.

The artist, who is also a mother of five, expressed confidence in her abilities as a co-parent, offering valuable insights in that regard.

Akothee, who is 43 years old, disclosed earlier this year, before her wedding to Omosh, that she had attempted marriage three times before without success.

“I was only married once to the father of my children. The other two white exes I was with never married me. At some point, I thought I would get married to the father of my third child, but it turned out to be an extreme sport being with him,” shared Akothee.

The much-hyped wedding to Omosh took place on April 10, 2023, with an exclusive guest list of 300 VVIPs.

The VVIP meal plates were priced at Sh6,500 each, totalling Sh1,950,000 for the exclusive event.
