Catherine Kasavuli’s son emotional in first Christmas without mom

As December 29 approaches, friends, family, and fans prepare to commemorate the first death anniversary of the late media personality, Catherine Kasavuli.

The esteemed broadcaster, who left an indelible mark on Kenya’s media landscape, succumbed to cancer at the age of 60 on December 29, 2022, at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

On Christmas day, her only son, Martin, emotionally reflected on the void left by his mother’s absence.

Martin shared poignant memories of their two decades of shared Christmases, expressing the profound loneliness he felt during this festive season.

“I miss my mom; I really miss her. For the last 20 years, we’ve consistently spent Christmas together. And if at all I got denied an off from work, she’d even make time and visit me in South Africa. I never knew I’d feel this lonely on a Christmas day, and the fact that in the next couple of days, we’ll be celebrating the first year anniversary, it feels empty here,” Martin said.

Despite the emotional challenges, Martin remains resilient, acknowledging the passage of time and the inevitability of moving forward.

He offered words of encouragement to those experiencing similar feelings during the holiday season.

“To anyone relating to this state, you’re not alone, just hang in there, better days are coming.”

To mark the first anniversary of his mother’s passing, Martin Kasavuli plans to contribute to a charitable cause in honor of Kenya’s first live news anchor.

He intends to uphold his mother’s legacy through a series of meaningful activities, including a documentary that will be shared in support of the Catherine Kasavuli Foundation.

Speaking about the documentary and his commitment to supporting the foundation, Martin said:

“Been feeling unwell, doctor and someone close advised me to take some rest, so I’m currently trying to do that, but man’s gotta hustle…I shot a small documentary on mom, it being her anniversary month, so yeah, there’s that that I’ll be sharing soon in support of her foundation.”

After Catherine Kasavuli’s passing, Martin described his mother as a precious gift from God and shared heartfelt sentiments about the impact she had on his life.

“Catherine, whenever I am missing you, I also remember how fortunate I was that you were in my life. I wouldn’t trade those moments for the world. You were precious, a gift from God, possessing an abundance of beauty, grace, love, and patience. You touched my heart in so many ways. Even on dark days, your strength and smile made me realize I had an angel beside me. I’m still learning how to navigate life without you. Mama, I miss you.”
