Celebrity breakups: ‘Couple goals’ whose marriages did not last

Marriage is often described as a beautiful union, but in certain instances, it can take a turn for the worse. In the world of glitz, glamour, and relentless media scrutiny, celebrity couples often appear to be living the dream.

They showcase their love on red carpets, social media, and magazine covers, setting seemingly unattainable standards of romance.

However, when the cracks begin to show, and the headlines shift from “relationship goals” to “separation,” it’s a stark reminder that fame and fortune don’t guarantee relationship success.

Over the recent years, Kenya has witnessed several celebrity couples whom everyone hailed as ‘relationship goals,’ only for these unions to dissolve after a brief period.

Among celebrity couples who have experienced the pain of a breakup is popular DJ and presenter, DJ Gee Gee and his ex-wife, Jasmine Mungai, who parted ways one year ago.

On Wednesday, Jasmine revisited the end of her marriage, which came at a particularly challenging time for her, as she was expecting their second child.

“This marks my 33rd year. A year ago, my eight-year marriage came to an end. I was searching for a new home. I was heavily pregnant, and jobless… But God! Here I am a year later, thriving, healing, raising my children, finding joy, and embracing life,” she said.

Here is our list of the best ‘couple goals’ who separated.

Willis Raburu and Marya Prude exchanged their vows in 2017, marking the beginning of their marital journey. For three years, they weathered life’s challenges together until their paths diverged.

The couple’s separation occurred a few months after the heartbreaking loss of their beloved daughter, Adana. Raburu has since moved on, welcoming two children with his new partner, Ivy Namu.

Life coach and pastor Robert Burale was previously married to Rozzinah Mwakideu, the sister of radio host Alex Mwakideu.

Their union lasted precisely one year and two days before ending in divorce. Among the contributing factors to their separation was Burale’s undisclosed financial struggles. Despite their relatively brief marriage, Burale continues to hold Rozzinah in high regard.
