Couple suspected of killing their child to be arraigned in court
A couple that was nabbed moments after they reported the death of their daughter in their house within Dandora Sub-County will today, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, be arraigned in court.
According to the police, the father and mother reported that their six-year-old daughter died due to chest related complications.
“They had gone to the station seeking help to take the body to the mortuary on the evening of Jamhuri Day,” Mr Adamson Bungei said.
However, regular police officers and sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who went to the scene to assist the couple suspected that the minor might have been murdered.
According to the officers who briefed their bosses, the minor had several marks on her neck and back. This made them suspect that something sinister might have happened to the minor.
Police say that they also found a plastic wire at the scene, and it is believed that it was the one that was used to end the life of the girl.
“We are investigating a murder in this case even though we are yet to establish the motive behind this if any,” Mr Bungei said.
The scene of the crime was processed, and the body was taken to the City Morgue pending an autopsy, which will reveal what caused the death of the girl.
Nairobi News has established that police are contemplating detaining the duo for the next two weeks as investigations into the matter go on.
The couple will then have to wait while in detention until a postmortem is carried out before further investigations go on.
Currently, the couple maintains that the minor had chest complications and that no one ended her life.
However, DCI sleuths are already engaging neighbors to shed more light on what transpired, leading to the death of the minor.
