Eric Omondi caps 2016 with ‘Saratina’ parody – VIDEO

Internationally acclaimed South African film, Sarafina, is the subject of comedian Eric Omondi’s latest parodies.

In his trademark style, the comedian’s latest work, titled Saratina, comically transforms the serious subject matter of the 1992 motion picture, which starred among others Leleti Khumalo, Miriam Makeba, John Kani and international star Whoopi Goldberg.

Mr Omondi picked some of the best scenes of the hit film and made them his own by mixing and redoing the famous songs in Kiswahili.

In an interview with Nairobi News, Omondi said after doing parodies all over East Africa his next target is the global audience hence the Saratina parody.

TIE THE KNOT

“Travor Noah has taken South Africa to the world and I want to do the same for Kenya and take it to the world also,” Omondi said.

Asked what his highlight parody of the year was, Omondi said that it was the one he did about Akothee.

In 2016 the comedian also did a world tour that took him to 11 eleven countries and 17 cities.

Omondi, however, declined to comment on whether 2017 would be the year he ties the knot with his Kenyan-Italian fiancee Chantal Grazioli but thanked Kenyans for all the support and love they have shown him through the year.
