EXCLUSIVE: P-Unit’s Frasha announces comeback after brief hiatus

Francis Amisi, known by his stage name Frasha and a member of the renowned Kenyan boy band P-Unit, is making a triumphant return to the music scene after announcing his departure from the industry in February 2023.

At the time, Frasha shared his decision to step away from music to make room for emerging artists. However, he’s now back with a bang, dropping his latest single, “Pewa.”

With a sound that combines catchy beats and infectious lyrics, Frasha once again showcases his talent and ability to create music that resonates with a broad audience.

“Pewa” is a vibrant and energetic track that exemplifies Frasha’s unique style and capacity to craft music that appeals to fans of all ages.

The song’s memorable chorus and upbeat rhythm are sure to get listeners on their feet and dancing.

In an interview with Nairobi News, Frasha revealed that his brief hiatus from the music industry allowed him to learn and observe from the outside so he could better understand his fans’ preferences.

“Be prepared for good music. The greatest lesson is that life is beautiful, and in the grand scheme of things, you don’t matter. Life goes on regardless. I’ve learned to take things easy, live each day as if it’s my last, and appreciate the small things, especially family.”

P-Unit, the iconic Kenyan boy band, went their separate ways in 2015 to pursue solo projects.

Over the weekend, P-Unit made a special appearance alongside Sauti Sol during their concert, where they performed their collaborative hit, “Gentleman.”

Speaking about collaborations and the band’s history, Frasha expressed his understanding of the need for the breakup and conveyed his best wishes to Sauti Sol for their future endeavors.

Frasha celebrated 23 years in the music industry in February.

Frasha explained that he is unable to balance his new ventures with his music career and family commitments. He feels that it’s time to pass the torch and create space for new talents in the industry.

“This will be my last performance. It’s time to give other people a chance to take the lead. I won’t be as active in music. Balancing two careers and family is challenging, and I feel that I’m aging. We can’t sing all our lives,” he concluded.

A few months ago, Frasha revealed his departure from the industry, citing frustration and the feeling that too much hard work was benefiting others rather than himself.

Now, his comeback promises fresh and exciting music that fans are eagerly awaiting.
