Exclusive: What next for Bensoul as he departs Sol Generation?


Singer Benson Mutua Muia, widely known as Bensoul, has shared invaluable insights he has gathered during his time with the Sol Generation record label.

After an impactful five-year journey as a Sol Generation artiste, Bensoul is poised to embark on a new chapter beyond the label.

In an exclusive conversation with Nairobi News during the Medigah London Hair launch event, Bensoul spoke about the multifaceted lessons he has learnt during his time with Sol Generation.

“The most profound lesson for me from my experience with Sol Generation is that I hold the reins of my own destiny. We’ve operated harmoniously, and the support has been remarkable,” Bensoul said.

“Success and failure are accountable to oneself. I am assuming the role of CEO for my venture, Lion of Sudah. I envision a comprehensive digital presence, complete with a dedicated website and an online store to showcase my merchandise,” he explained.

Bensoul also he is a strong believer of artistic independence and that he now finds himself at a juncture where independence and the creation of his personal realm are of paramount importance.

“I am optimistic about my journey, appreciative of the unwavering fan support for my music. I am presently engaged in the production of music videos for my latest album, a concerted effort to further the frontiers of Kenyan music.”

Bensoul also shared insights into the symbolism of his trademark dreadlocks, which he has worn for eight years now.

“My dreadlocks have been with me for a significant span. Although I could decide to shave them off, I’m committed to their continuation. They symbolize my journey and resilience in cultivating patience. Maintaining them has been a challenge but a rewarding one,” he said.
