Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) boss Auka Gacheo is officially taken.

He tied the knot with his better half at an invite-only event in Nairobi at the weekend.

The event was attended by close friends and family alongside the who is who in the world of football.

The groom was dressed in a black coat and white shirt with a blush pink tie and grey pants while the bride elected to don an off-shoulder floral white gown on her bid day.

Though reserved, the Gacheo is one of the most influential people in African football.

Since replacing Nicholas Musonye in 2019, he now heads the regional football body consisting of Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia.

His job description consists of overseeing football development through the organizing of several age-group tournaments of both boys and girls held in various countries annually.

A former rugby player, Gacheo has also previously served as General Manager of Pay-Tv channel Supersport and was the brains behind the live broadcast of Kenyan Premier League matches across the continent.

He is known to have interests in film and production through his Live Eye company.

Recently, Gacheo heaped praise on President William Ruto’s announcement to the effect that Kenya will enter the bidding chase to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has clarified that Kenya will either bid to host the tournament on her own or engage other East African countries namely Uganda and Tanzania over a possible joint bid.
