Kajiado woman who stabbed her two killed children to face court

A 28-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her two children to death and tried to commit suicide on Thursday 8 June 2023, is expected to be arraigned in court this week.

Ms Christine Karimi is currently at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and has been placed under 24-hour police guard.

Ms Karimi and her husband, Rodgers Andere, had a disagreement after the man arrived home late, leading to the fatal confrontation.

Neighbours told police that the couple had been arguing constantly and had been stopped from getting violent on several occasions.

“The man was beaten by the woman and he rushed out of the house while she was bleeding profusely. The woman then attacked the two children and killed them on the spot,” reads part of a police report seen by Nairobi News.

Mr Hussein Gura, the Kajiado North sub-county police boss, told this reporter that the woman was arrested immediately after she was taken to hospital.

“We took the couple to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and the woman was immediately arrested and police officers are keeping an eye on her,” he told Nairobi News.

It is worth noting that in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, one person is killed every two days. In addition, the majority of murder cases are never solved.

Nairobi is Kenya’s most populous city, with more than four million people, and it also records the highest number of crimes.

Kenya was ranked fourth in Africa in the 2021 Organised Crime Index, and the 2022 Economic Survey reports that Nairobi regularly records the highest number of crimes in the country.

However, the city’s current police officers, under the command of Nairobi County Police boss Adamson Bungei, have been dealing with the crime elements.
