Kenyan artists take centre stage with exclusive performances on a Colors show

Spotify has partnered with COLORSxSTUDIOS to spotlight the smooth rhythms of Kenyan R&B through six exclusive A Colors Show performances.

This remarkable initiative marks the first time that Kenyan artists will grace the renowned monochromatic stage, presenting never-before-released singles.

As part of this partnership, Spotify and COLORSxSTUDIOS organized a week-long writing camp in Nairobi, Kenya during the first week of October.

The camp brought together a diverse array of singers, songwriters, and producers from Africa and the diaspora.

To culminate this celebration of music, a special R&B event was held on October 6th, not only wrapping up the writing camp but also celebrating the genre and its exceptional artists.

Afro R&B, a genre on the rise in Africa, has found a special place in the hearts of Kenyan music enthusiasts, ranking among the top five most-streamed genres in the country.

The first artist to grace the COLORS stage was the talented singer-songwriter Lisa Oduor-Noah, who mesmerized the audience with her performance of “For Keeps,” a song she wrote back in 2017.

Lisa shared her excitement, saying, “It’s crazy when some of your wildest dreams, things that you looked at from so far away, actually happen.”

Following Lisa’s captivating performance, Xenia Manasseh, a singer-songwriter and a Spotify RADAR artist, graced the stage with her enchanting vocals and relatable lyrics.

Xenia’s song “Wild Ride,” penned in 2022, invites listeners on a journey that reflects her personal experiences.

This artist, who has also contributed her songwriting talents to some of the industry’s biggest names, encourages her audience to “keep dreaming and keep following your dreams.”

Monica Kemoli-Savanne, Spotify’s Artist & Label Partnerships Manager, East Africa, expressed her delight in bringing this collaboration to life, stating:

“This is the first time that any Kenyan artist is performing on A COLORS SHOW, and we are honored to have been able to make this collaboration a reality. Our mission of elevating African artists to global stages continues, and we cannot wait for audiences all around the world to discover the amazing R&B talent that Kenya has to offer.”

The collaboration between Spotify and COLORSxSTUDIOS promises to introduce global audiences to the rich and vibrant music scene in Kenya.
