Kenyans prefer Mudavadi as Ruto’s DP
Kenyans prefer Musalia Mudavadi as Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate if general elections are held today.
This is according to a poll conducted by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA).
The poll indicates Mudavadi, who recently dumped Raila Odinga to team up with Ruto, is backed by 27% of the respondents in the poll for the number two role.
When the poll is flipped to only focus on the most preferred Mt Kenya running mate for Ruto, Anne Waiguru is the preferred candidate with 31 percent followed by Nderitu Gachagua with a 14 percent approval rating, while Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro comes in third at 11 percent, and Ms Karua is at 10 percent.
Also, 41% of the respondents back Peter Kenneth to be Odinga’s running mate.
Other contenders for Raila’s number two role are Martha Karua at 29% and Lee Kinyanjui at 4%
Odinga and Ruto are considered the front runners ahead of the August 2022 polls.
The poll Ruto as the leading candidate to be elected President at 38 per cent, even though the number is not enough to lead him to State House, as it’s short of the required 50%+1 threshold.
Odinga is second with 27 percent.
The elections will be held on August 8, 2022.
