His belief that “life is about the journey, not the destination” constantly clashes with his role as a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) driver in the bustling, fictional East African city of Milima.

The show is characterized by its charming blend of humor and life lessons.

South African showrunner Greig Cameron, known for his work on “Seal Team” and the hit animated series “Supa Strikas,” shared insights about “Twende.”

The series follows Twende’s adventures and his unique perspective on life, taking the audience on a joyful journey full of humor and valuable lessons.

“Twende” made its pilot debut in competition at Annecy, one of the world’s premier animation festivals, in 2021. The series is now set to make waves on Showmax, expanding its reach to a global audience.

MultiChoice Studios will manage international sales and showcase “Twende” at MIPCom, a significant event for TV and entertainment executives worldwide, taking place from 16-19 October 2023.

While the series does not directly address poaching, it raises awareness about pangolins, the most trafficked animals globally, and their endangered status. Kenyan executive producer Kwame Nyong’o hopes that “Twende” will encourage the audience to fall in love with pangolins and contribute to their protection.

The concept for “Twende” was developed by brothers Charlie and Regan Maas during their East Africa tour.

They found inspiration in the bustling traffic of Nairobi and the slow-moving pangolins, creating a delightful story set in an East African city.

The series represents a collaborative effort between international and African creative teams, leveraging local talent and unique experiences. “Twende” showcases the growth of African animation on the global stage.

“Twende” promises to be a lighthearted and meaningful addition to the world of animation. Viewers can look forward to its premiere on Showmax on December 4, 2023, with new episodes released on Saturdays. Join Twende and his friends as they remind us that life’s journey is as important as the destination.
