Man accused of with stealing Vaseline, rosary
A man has been charged with stealing Vaseline Jelly and several perfumes from a woman.
Isaiah Munabi, 24, is accused of stealing the Jelly, plus Rexona Anti-perspirant, all valued at Ksh 1000.
He appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and was charged with committing the crime on February 16 along Link Road in Upper Hill, Nairobi, while armed with a machete.
Munabi was also accused of robbing Vivian Awuor a Rosary and two pens.
The accused who appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate court pleaded guilty and later changed the plea to not guilty.
According to court documents seen by Nairobi News, the accused was arrested by Capital Hill police officers while on their daily patrol.
The officers saw an armed man and woman struggling at a distance.
” The man managed to snatch the handbag from the woman and ran away towards railways lane,” read the court document in part.
The investigating officer gave the man a chase while the others remained watching over the police vehicle they had parked.
He was arrested and escorted to Capital Hill police station.
The court released the accused on a bond of Ksh200,000 or alternative cash bail of Ksh 80,000 and ordered the matter to be mentioned after 14 days for pre-trial.
