Man on the run after strangling girlfriend with a towel in a lodging

Police are on the trail of a man suspected of strangling his girlfriend with a towel to death in a lodging.

As per a police report, the couple checked into a local lodging in Emali, Makueni County on September 24, 2023.

According to the local Assistant Chief, Michael Kivondo, the woman was later discovered lifeless at the lodge, while her male companion was nowhere to be found.

The exact circumstances surrounding this alleged murder remain unclear.

Preliminary investigations, as per the assistant chief, indicate that the victim met her tragic end by being strangled with a towel.

Her body has since been transported to Kilome Nursing Home Mortuary as the investigation into this disturbing incident continues.

Meanwhile, police in Migori County, have launched investigations after a Form Three student at Bande Girls Secondary School took her own life on Sunday.

According to a police incident report, the 15-year-old girl attended a church service within the school premises alongside other students.

However, she discreetly left the church service while it was still ongoing and her lifeless body was found inside a classroom.

Police further said that the student had left a suicide note explaining that she had chosen to end her life due to harassment she had been enduring from one of the school prefects.

Her remains were taken to Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

This tragic incident follows another distressing event just a week earlier when a Grade Four pupil took his own life in a classroom at Sare Primary School in Migori County.
