Manhunt launched for two suspects who escaped from police cell with firearm
Police in Kiminini, Trans-Nzoia County are seeking to establish how two suspects escaped from a police station after stealing a firearm.
According to a report filed at Shikhendu Police Station, the matter was reported by three officers who stay in the police lines in the wee hours of Thursday, January 26, 2023.
One of the officer is reported to have realised that two suspects had escaped by breaking the wooden ceiling and the cutting through the iron sheet.

The female officer further reported that the escapees jumped into the report office where they broke steel box amour and stole one AK47 rifle of serial number 31581 which was loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.
The duo then slipped out of the police station unnoticed through the main door which was not locked.
According to the report, the suspects had been charged with stock theft.

“They had stolen two cows which were recovered. The two were due to appear before court today vide 857/43/2023,” the police report reads.
The scene was visited by senior police officers and detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Two police officers who were on duty have been arrested and are assisting in the investigations.
