Multichoice slashes DStv subscription rates

DStv subscribers in Kenya will now pay less to watch their favourite programs following Multichoice Kenya’s reduction of subscription rates effective Friday.

Multichoice Kenya, which owns the DStv brand, has reduced subscription rates for all their packages.

The Pay-TV firm reduced the monthly bouquet prices by between three and nine per cent in response to customer needs, growing competition from internet TV.

Premium Bouquet has been cut by 3.42 percent to Sh7,900 and Compact Plus by 4.15 percent to Sh5,200.

The firm also reduced compact package to Sh3,200 and Access by 9.52 percent to Sh950. However, GOtv subscription rates will remain unchanged.

LATEST REDUCTION

Multichoice Kenya Managing Director Eric Odipo on Tuesday said the price cut is as a result of stability of the Kenya Shilling against the US$.

“The majority of our input costs are in US dollars and we hope we will not experience any further currency devaluations or other unexpected increases in costs for the remainder of the year. It is also a way of rewarding our customers for their loyalty and support,” Mr Odipo said.

This is the latest reduction of subscription fees by the company following a similar one in November last year when it reduced its bouquet prices by between 5 and 15 percent.
