Nigerian media boss talks Kenyan music and content creators


Olufemi Oguntamu, is known as the brains behind numerous successful campaigns for prominent Nigerian brands.

Noteworthy clients include Taxify Nigeria, MTN Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wema Bank, MasterCard, Lagos Business School, and Trace Nigeria, among others.

As a trailblazing media entrepreneur, he has an innate flair for branding, marketing, and promotion. Oguntamu perceives and utilises new media as a powerful tool.

Oguntamu is recognised for his role as the convener of the highly acclaimed annual social media conference, “Handle It Africa.” This event serves as a platform for brands, talents, creatives, and digital media enthusiasts to delve into discussions surrounding media challenges, prospects, and impactful networking.

Oguntamu envisions expanding this initiative beyond Lagos, intending to touch other African cities in due time.

In a recent interview with Nairobi News, Oguntamu shared insights into his appreciation for Kenyan creatives, expressing a desire to collaborate with figures such as Crazy Kennar, Mammitto, and Njugush.

On the music front, he revealed an affinity for Kenyan artists, including Sauti Sol, Nyashinski, and Nviiri.

Oguntamu also acknowledged Bien’s latest album, “Alusa: Why Are You Topless,” as a recent musical delight.

Reflecting on the prominence of Nigerian music on the global stage, Oguntamu attributes its greatness to the industry’s hardworking, committed, and resilient artists.

He told Nairobi News, “Nigerian artistes are doing greatly for themselves and the continent by extension. It is evident that their level of greatness is a result of hardwork, commitment, and strength. Nigerian artistes always drive themselves towards creating and recreating sounds that have capacity to compete on global stages. The truth is the Nigerian creative community is defined by heavy competition because of the wide array of talented minds. As a result, you will always see a Nigerian doing great in every sector of global attention. We are blessed to have the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel and many others keeping the country’s flag higher on global turfs.”

Any plans to visit Kenya? He said that each visit, whether for rest or business, resonates with a sense of being at home.

“I have visited Kenya several times for businesses and vacation. Kenya is a beautiful country. The calmness and peace in Kenya as a country drives attention of business owners, private individuals and tourists. I feel at home each time I visit Kenya, either for rest or business trips.”
