Nilikua ikijengwa! Karen Nyamu defends Christmas visit to Samidoh’s home

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has found herself at the centre of online scrutiny after defending her decision to spend Christmas with her baby daddy, musician Samidoh, at his Nyandarua home.

The controversy arose as they chose to celebrate the festive season together, bringing along their children and some of Samidoh’s family members to his village residence.

Critics online took issue with Karen’s visit to a house that was previously occupied by Samidoh’s first wife, Edday Nderitu, who was reportedly absent during the celebration.

Despite Samidoh building the house long before his relationship with Karen and the birth of their two children, some argued that he should consider constructing a separate residence for Karen Nyamu.

Achieng’ Odinga, a commentator on the situation, remarked, “In the Kikuyu community, a man should build houses for his wives; that’s how sacred polygamy is.”

Responding to the comments, Samidoh’s first wife, Edday Nderitu, expressed her disappointment, stating:

“The good thing is that those kids he has disrespected, he will be seeing them on social media just like a stranger.”

Karen Nyamu defended her presence at the Nyandarua home, asserting that she was the one who provided moral support to Samidoh during the house’s construction, especially when she was pregnant during the Covid-19 period.

“Ask that woman if she has ever stepped on the site when the house was being built. I was the one giving Samidoh moral support, and I was pregnant during the Covid-19 period. No wonder even during the opening ceremony, it was me who attended. You are making me speak things that I am not supposed to speak. Don’t just speculate things here,” Karen stated.

In response to criticism suggesting that the house belonged to Samidoh’s first wife, Karen clarified:

“I was the only one who attended the ceremony when it was being opened. The house belongs to Samidoh.”

Online discussions also saw a fan named Martha suggesting that Karen should have asked Samidoh to build her a separate house.

Karen responded, saying she took it seriously when Edday mentioned that she had left him for her.

“Were people not serious when they said they had left it for me? I took it seriously.”
