Please let me die for my brother’s crime, man begs court

A man on Tuesday offered to die for his brother.

Mr Richard Obila shocked a Homa Bay court after he pleaded with Justice Hellen Omondi to let him serve a death sentence in place of his brother, Samwel Onyango.

Onyango murdered Mr Bernard Okeno on April 5, 2015.

“Onyango is my youngest brother. I am really sorry for what happened. He is newly married with two infants. Please allow me to serve the sentence in his place even if it is a death sentence,” he said.

However, the judge told Mr Obila that the law does not allow that.

Reading the judgment on behalf of Justice David Majanja, Mrs Omondi said the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that both Samwel Onyango and Paul Ogalo jointly murdered Mr Okeno.

Justice Majanja said the prosecution gave clear and convincing evidence on what happened.

The killing took place in broad day light and was witnessed by several people.
