Police launch manhunt for gang that robbed Nairobi businessman of his firearm

Police in Kiambu County have launched a manhunt for a gang that attacked and robbed a businessman of his firearm.

Nairobi News understands the businessman who is a licensed firearm holder was attacked in Kihara in Kiambu County.

In his statement to the police, the businessman said he was ambushed at the gate of his home.

He was then pulled out of his car and ordered to surrender at gunpoint.

As this was going on two other suspects riding a motorcycle arrived and joined the suspects.

“They then grabbed my Ceska pistol which had 15 bullets, a bag that had his gold clothes, and a wallet that had Sh8,000, a pair of shoes, and my mobile phone,” he told the police.

Police also say the suspects after committing the robbery then left towards Gathiga Area.

They also say that no one was injured during the incident that took place on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

It is worth noting that cases of firearm holders losing their guns to suspected robbers have been on the increase.

On November 11, 2023, another businessman was robbed of his firearm after attending a party in Karen, a Nairobi suburb.

Police have launched a manhunt for a woman who was last seen in the company of the man inside the entertainment joint.

“The man was stupefied by a person well known to him and currently investigations on the matter are ongoing,” a police report seen by Nairobi News read in part.

In his statement, the businessman told the police that he met with the woman and spent time together before he lost consciousness

The man narrates how they enjoyed drinks inside before parting ways at 2am.

“Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have secured CCTV footage which captured the events of the day,” a sleuth who spoke to Nairobi News in confidence said.
