Ruto’s advice to Kenyans on free wifi
In a bid to ensure enhanced cybersecurity and protect citizens’ personal information, President William Ruto has urged them to exclusively use public WiFi networks for business-related activities.
The president’s statement comes as a proactive response to the escalating concerns surrounding data privacy and cyber threats faced by individuals in the digital age.
In a meet the people tour in Embu, President Ruto emphasized the significance of exercising caution when accessing public WiFi networks, highlighting the potential risks associated with non-essential usage. He encouraged citizens to be vigilant and recognize that these networks should primarily serve as a convenient tool for conducting business transactions, rather than a platform for leisurely browsing or personal activities.
“The security of our citizens’ personal information is of utmost importance,” President Ruto declared. “We live in an interconnected world, and as such, it is crucial that we take necessary precautions to safeguard our digital identities. By limiting the use of public WiFi to business-related endeavors, we can significantly reduce the chances of falling victim to cybercrimes and data breaches.”
