Senator Omar: Why I have never driven a vehicle
Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar shocked a panel of a television talk show when he confessed that he has never driven a vehicle.
The panel on Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast Show on Thursday was discussing the trappings of power being enjoyed by governors, zeroing in on Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho.
But while Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said he had spotted his Kakamega counterpart Boni Khalwale driving himself at midnight, while he (Murkomen) was also behind the wheels.
STRANGE CONFESSION
Stunned by the strange confession, the panel that was moderated by TV host Fred Indimuli and also included Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi queried him on his reasons for not learning how to drive.
“I’m that unconventional. I own two cars in Nairobi and three in Mombasa but I have never driven any,” he said.
The senator said the late Mombasa scholar Ali Mazrui had never driven a car, something he finds amusing.
“I used to bother my driver too much until Uber came along. You just log in and hail one.”
