Sh1 million prize money at Betika Kapsabet Road Race

Preparations are in full gear ahead of the Betika Kapsabet Road Race on March 3, 2023.

As part of its ongoing commitment towards promoting sports and community engagement, Betika, through its local talent funding arm, Betika Na Community initiative, is spearheading this thrilling event, expected to draw both local talent and international competitors.

With over 700 athletes eagerly preparing to lace up their running shoes, the Kapsabet Marathon promises to be an electrifying showcase of speed, endurance, and determination.

Participants will race across a challenging 15-kilometre course, vying for top honours including prize money and glittering medals.

Top male and female runners will each receive Sh250,000 while second and third place finishers will each pocket Sh150,000 and Sh100,000 respectively.

Even those who narrowly miss the podium will be duly recognized, with fourth and fifth place finishers banking Sh50,000 and Sh40,000 respectively.

Further, the sixth through tenth place finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories will each receive Sh20,000, adding an extra layer of competition and excitement to the event.

“We are thrilled to support the Kapsabet Road Race, an event that celebrates the spirit of athleticism and camaraderie,” said the Managing Director Betika, Mutua Mutava.

“Through Betika Na Community, we aim to foster a culture of sportsmanship and healthy competition while providing opportunities for athletes to showcase their talents on a global stage.”

The Kapsabet Road Race follows the resounding success of several marathons successfully sponsored by the company.

A12-kilometre Cross-Country run in Kericho, was held in October 2023, which attracted over 500 athletes.

A total prize pool of Sh1,350,000 was distributed among the top-ten finishers, underscoring Betika’s unwavering commitment to supporting grassroots sporting initiatives and nurturing athletic talent across Kenya.

As anticipation mounts and excitement reaches fever pitch, Betika invites sports enthusiasts and supporters alike to join us in Kapsabet Town for what promises to be an unforgettable day of athleticism, camaraderie, and community spirit.
