Shabana FC patron Sam Nyamweya has rewarded the team following a convincing display in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League on December 16, 2023.

Shabana outclassed Sofapaka 4-1 in a one sided affair at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay in a result that is certain to ease the team’s relegation worries.

The result left an excited Nyamweya, a veteran football administrator and former Football Kenya Federation president, rewarding the newly promoted team with  a Sh50,000 token.

“I would like to congratulate my players for the outstanding performance and result against Sofapaka,” said Nyamweya.

“I will offer the team a Christmas gift of 50,000 for the good show. We continue as a leadership to wish the team best of luck as they take the Xmas break.”

Shabana scored the opening goal of the match in the fifth minute through Ezekiel Omuri, and added a second after just before the break via Brian Michira.

Omuri added his second and third for Shabana three minutes after the hour mark before Nehemiah Onchiri sealed the impressive result.

The win is a big respite for Shabana, who are now 13th on the 18-team standings.

Sofapaka, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table after the loss which ends their three-match unbeaten streak.

Nyamweya had recently called on the team to recruit a new coach following the departure of Sammy Okoth. He has also urged the management to move the team’s games to Nairobi and Narok and work towards recruiting players to strengthen the team in January 2024.
