Shebesh blames Kidero for peace talks flop
Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh on Wednesday claimed Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was placing roadblocks to their reconciliation efforts.
At the same time, she asked a Nairobi court to block her arrest by the police.
Mrs Shebesh, through lawyer Cecil Miller, alleged that since a court had blocked the police from arresting Dr Kidero, she was in danger of being arrested.
She alleged that the governor was at fault for not being committed to negotiations that might have resulted to an amicable resolution.
“Mrs Shebesh is at extreme risk of being charged if the court does not intervene,” Mr Miller argued.
He told the court that his client’s decision to move to court was preceded by a lack of commitment from the Nairobi governor towards reconciliation to resolve the assault dispute between them.
The High Court on Wednesday directed that Mrs Shebesh’s case be heard before Mr Justice David Majanja.
Mrs Shebesh claimed she had established that Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko, Inspector General of Police and the director of criminal investigations intended to have her arrested.
The Orange Democratic Party, Cord and the Nairobi City County intend to participate in the case as interested parties.
