Singer Evelyn Wanjiru announces first pregnancy

Award-winning gospel artist Evelyn Wanjiru and her better half namely Akweyu Agundabweni are expecting their first child together.

The artist made the announcement in a new song titled Asante.

In the song’s video, ladies are seen cheerfully dancing on an occasion that looks like a baby shower in a blue theme.

Captioning 1st Samuel 1:27, a prayer made by Hannah in the bible, Evelyn posted, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.”

Having been married for 10 years, Evelyn says that God has fulfilled his promise in their lives.

“Today my heart is full of Joy and gratitude. As I write this, my eyes are full of tears. I have been waiting for this season for 10 years in my marriage,” she says.

Thanking her husband, the Mungu Mkuu (Zaidi ya yote) hitmaker added, “There’s a distinct difference, anybody can be a father but it takes a special man to be a DAD. This man right here @agundabweni is a gift from God to me.”

Revealing that they had asked God so many questions even as they encouraged others, the songbird on her Instagram post says, “You do not get what you pray for, you get what you’ve waited for.”

In 2019, Evelyn revealed she was under immense pressure from society to sire children.

“My husband gives me strength. This is despite the cultural (African) expectations that you should have a child within one or two years of marriage, if you stay without a child there is a lot of pressure. If my husband pressured me, I would be stressed a lot. I have friends who have been pressuring me and one of my friends told me someone said that I travel a lot why can’t I lock myself in the closet and ask God why he hasn’t given me a child? It hit me so badly. People don’t know my struggle. People don’t know how many times I have tried to have a baby. It hurt me,” she said in a radio interview.
