Sol Generation’s Bensoul pays tribute to late mum as she is laid to rest
Renowned artist and Sol Generation member, Benson Mutua Muia, popularly known as Bensoul, has shared an emotional tribute to his late mother, Susan Muia, who passed away on November 17, 2023.
The father of one opened up about the recent loss during one of his concerts, where he invited the audience to join him in commemorating his mother’s memory by singing along to one of his songs.
In a video shared online, Bensoul addressed the crowd, revealing the heartbreaking news about his mother’s passing a week earlier.
“Rest in peace to my mama. She left us last week, but right here, we are having a good time celebrating her,” he said with a heavy heart.
In a recent Instagram post, Bensoul paid his last respects to his late mother, describing her as his “first love.”
The post included poignant photos from the burial ceremony, featuring a touching image of Bensoul with his only sister.
“Rest well, my first love. I love you, mum,” he wrote alongside the emotional images.
This is not the first time Bensoul has expressed gratitude and love for his mother through his music.
In 2019, he released the song “Niombee,” a heartfelt tribute acknowledging the countless prayers offered by his mother on his behalf.
“This song is a heartfelt tribute to my mother. Both she and my grandmother pray for me diligently every morning. I truly believe their prayers guide me, even when I may not be actively praying myself,” he shared in an interview at the time.
Reflecting on the importance of family, Bensoul emphasized the significant role his mother played in his life
“Family holds immense significance for me. Raised by my mother, my father may not have been physically present, but his presence is still felt. However, his current whereabouts remain unknown to me.”
