Suspected killer on the run after woman is found dead inside Kayole house


A man is on the run after he allegedly killed a 30-year-old woman and tried to set the house on fire in Kayole, Nairobi.

Police have launched investigations into the Monday afternoon incident in which the woman’s body was found in the house by residents while putting out the fire.

Police who responded to the incident said residents saw smoke billowing from the house which had been locked from the outside.

“Residents broke into the house and stumbled on a 20-litre jerrican on fire and managed to contain the spread of the inferno,” police said.

According to reports, the assailant set the jerrican that had petrol on fire.

While extinguishing the fire, the residents stumbled on the body of a woman on the floor covered with a piece of Maasai shuka.

Police said the woman’s body was in a pool blood facing upward with a cut wound on the right side of the neck with a pullover sleeve tied around it.

Police believe the unknown woman may have been strangled, as the crime scene was disturbed and blood was splattered on the floor.

Police also said the woman’s clothes were rolled upwards to the waist while her panties were torn apart with blood oozing from her nose and mouth.

The woman’s body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification as the police commenced investigations into the incident.

Last week, the body of an unidentified woman was found near the fence of Moi Air Base in Eastleigh.

Herders grazing their animals at the scene stumbled on the body and reported to the police.

Police believe the woman, whose estimated age is about 25, may have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.

Police said the body had a piece of clothing around the neck and that there were also signs of strangulation and a visible injury on the left thigh.
