Tim Wanyonyi: No turning back on gubernatorial quest

Westlands lawmaker Tim Wanyonyi says he is not ready to concede or postpone his ambition to become the next Nairobi governor.

Speaking to Nairobi News in Nairobi, the respected lawmaker stressed he is ready for both the primaries and the August 9 polls.

“I am the only one who has come out to vie for the top seat with the ODM ticket,” he said.

“I know that there are other aspirants for the same seat in the Jubilee party. We shall all be on the ballot. Let the people decide their preferred candidate.”

His comments come amid reports he has been offered to deputies businessman Richard Ngatia who is eyeing the same seat on a Jubilee party ticket.

A political deal between Wanyonyi’s ODM and Jubilee parties mean the two candidates can jointly contest for the seat.

Other aspirants for the same seat include incumbent Anne Kananu, Senator Johnson Sakaja and Agnes Kagure.
