TV soap opera made me stray, says shamed wife
An Umoja Innercore housewife blamed a popular soap opera for her waywardness.
In her Thursday night confession after a thorough beating when her husband caught her in a compromising position with a close male relative, the woman said the soap made her lose control.
“Those of you who have watched Abyss of Passion know what it can do to someone. We watch it repeatedly every night and that is why we went astray,” she told shocked neighbours, after they managed to prise her from the husband’s fierce grip.
The young man, in his twenties, had been living with the family for a year.
He fled the scene immediately the man of the house arrived leaving the woman to bear the brunt of her husband’s anger alone.
The soap opera is aired every evening on weekdays on a local TV station.
The woman’s screams had attracted the attention of neighbours who rushed to the rescue her thinking she was a victim of robbery.
