Two suspected robbers shot dead in Hurlingham, firearm recovered

Two suspects of robbery with violence were on the evening of Tuesday, January 17, 2023, shot dead by police officers in Hurlingham, Nairobi County.

Police said the duo were gunned down around Shujaa area. A ceska pistol loaded with two rounds of ammunition was recovered from the slain suspects.

“The duo had a motorbike which they intended to use to escape from the scene but they never made it after the rider sped away to an unknown destination,” Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said.

This incident took place just two days after two suspected robbers were also shot dead in Dandora, Nairobi County.

Police said they received a tipoff from members of the public that two armed robbers were harassing members of the public in Kibarange area, Dandora in Nairobi County.

The duo injured some members of the public during their stealing spree, which caught the attention of members of the public, who quickly alerted the police. Two of those who were injured were taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Kayole.

It emerged that the two also had a gun and were using it to threaten civilians before stealing from them their valuables and money.

“It is then that police decided to go after the duo and managed to corner them as they went on with their evil deeds,” Nairobi County police boss, Mr Adamson Bungei, said.

According to the police, the two were armed with homemade guns, and officers also recovered the two motorbikes.

On the morning of Sunday, January 15, 2023, two youthful men were nabbed by members of the public at the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout in Nairobi County. They were then handed over to the police.
