University graduate takes own life after 500 failed job applications
Detectives are investigating an incident after a woman took her own life after she failed to find a job.
Vera Okoth, 27 body, was found in her bathroom at the family home in Umiru village on Tuesday with her certificates on her bed.
According to the mother, who found the body in the morning when she went to wake her up, found her missing in her room, and when she checked in the bathroom, which is adjacent to her room, she found her body hanging.
The deceased had graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science in 2019 from Masinde Muliro University.
According to the police, when the deceased went to sleep, she had asked her mother if she would ever get a job, as she had applied for over 500 jobs without success.
Police said the motive of the incident is yet to be known as the deceased did not leave behind any suicide note.

Police have launched investigations into the incidents of two 17-year-olds after one body was found in a dam and the other hanging.
In Nairobi, Kasarani area, the body of Claycity Secondary School student was found dumped in Kamkonde dam on Wednesday, January 10, after going missing for two days.
According to the police, the Form Three student was last seen on January 8, 2023.
When the body was retrieved from the dam on Wednesday by private divers in the area, police said that his face had bruises.
Police say they are investigating to establish if the student was killed and his body dumped there or if he drowned.

His body was moved to Kenyatta University mortuary awaiting autopsy, which will determine how investigations into the incident were drowning or murder.
In the other incident, another 17-year-old student was found hanging from a mango tree in the Ndakaini area, Kiambu County, on January 9.
Police said they have launched investigations to determine the motive.
The body was moved to Githumu Missionary Mortuary for preservation, awaiting post-mortem.
