Wavinya Ndeti appoints ex-NTV Swahili presenter Dan Mule as Machakos communications boss

Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has nominated former NTV Swahili presenter Daniel Mule Lemba, popularly known as Dan Mule, as the next Chief Officer for Public Communications and e-Government in the Machakos County Government.

The position would put him at the helm of critical communications and information from Machakos County to the electorate and investors as the first-time governor appears keen to tap into his wealth of knowledge and experience.

“I feel it’s an opportunity for me to use my experience and skills to help Machakos County improve service delivery through effective communication, which is a key element in achieving efficient service delivery,” he told NTV.

Mule will be vetted by the county assembly on the 27th, along with 9 others at the Machakos County Hall.

Mule works at AMREF, where he is a communication and advocacy specialist.

Prior to joining the organisation, he spent a decade with the Nation Media Group.

Before the media industry, Mule’s journey began at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in Nakuru, where he was tasked with carrying bags of maize.

But he eventually applied for a job as a writer with Taifa Leo and the Nation newspaper. Mule later climbed the corporate ladder to become a full-time news anchor at NTV.

At the time of his departure in December 2021, the trained teacher and poet was NTV’s Swahili news anchor and regional editor.

He holds a Masters in Development Community, an ongoing PhD in Communications, Artificial Intelligence and a degree in Education.

Mule will join a list of journalists employed by various district governments if approved.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has appointed his former colleague, NTV reporter Kennedy Murithi as his political advisor.

The former TV47 presenter was appointed director of communications in Kilifi County, while Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani appointed Nicky Gitonga as the county’s communications director.
