Wema Sepetu reacts to birthday drama where mom scolded her in public
Tanzanian actress and model Wema Sepetu, found herself at the center of an unexpected family drama during her recent birthday celebration, which has since become the talk of the town.
The incident unfolded when her mother, Mariam Sepetu, took the stage to confront her daughter about her relationship with her boyfriend, Whozu, and the public introduction of their engagement.
Wema had gathered with friends and loved ones to celebrate her special day when the atmosphere took an uncomfortable turn.
Mariam Sepetu, Wema’s mother, decided to address the guests present, emphasizing the importance of respect between a daughter and her family.
The source of her mother’s displeasure stemmed from Wema introducing Whozu as her fiancé in a public setting without prior acknowledgment from the family.

Mariam Sepetu sternly reminded her daughter of the significance of familial respect.
“You must respect your mother as your daughter. You can’t simply introduce him to the public. First, come and inform your mother that you have a boyfriend, a fiancé. You don’t need to parade him around. I am your mother,” she asserted firmly.
Despite the intense exchange, Wema’s mother made sure to convey her deep affection for her daughter. She clarified that her primary concern was to ensure Wema’s happiness, even if they had differences.
“I am not trying to obstruct my daughter, but all I ask for is respect as her parent. After that, I genuinely wish her happiness, and I still hold a deep love for my daughter,” Mariam Sepetu expressed before embracing Wema in a heartfelt display of maternal love.
Following the unexpected confrontation, Wema Sepetu took to social media to share her disappointment with the way her birthday celebration had turned out.
She explained that her original intention had been to celebrate joyfully with her loved ones, but her plans had taken an unexpected turn.
“My intention and purpose were to celebrate my birthday and enjoy it with my loved ones, but it didn’t turn out the way I expected. In short, my plans were ruined, and my goal was not achieved. I feel very disappointed. This was the worst birthday party of my life, and I don’t think I’ll ever have a party again in my life. It hurts in my heart, but I believe everything happens for a reason, so I’ll just say ‘Alhamdulillah’ (thanks be to God)…” Wema shared on her Instagram.
