Why Daddy Owen’s wedding moments with ex-wife Farida are trending
In the wake of gospel artist Daddy Owen’s reported introduction of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, to his parents, nostalgic images from the musician’s previous marriage with Farida Wambui have resurfaced.
The Kakamega County native, Daddy Owen, exchanged vows with Farida Wambui in a vibrant ceremony on April 2, 2016.
The joyous occasion garnered congratulations from fellow artists, comedians, and prominent media personalities who celebrated the union on their social media platforms.
Comedian Daniel Wambua Ndambuki, popularly known as Churchill, extended his congratulations, stating, “Help me congratulate the newest couple in town, Mr & Mrs Mwatia (Daddy Owen). Hongera…Farida and Owen. Blessings kibao.”
Former NTV journalist Larry Madowo also joined in the felicitations on April 2, 2016, expressing his well-wishes for Daddy Owen and Farida.

The artist and Farida Wambui, who share two children, went their separate ways in 2021. Netizens have revisited these celebratory posts, some tagging Charlene Ruto.
Daddy Owen introduced Charlene Ruto to his mother on December 23, 2023, during a visit to Kakamega County.
Photos from the tour, where Daddy Owen and Charlene were seen interacting warmly with his mother, circulated online.
Despite the public attention, President Ruto has not commented on his daughter’s activities.
