Safaricom PLC, Kenya’s leading telecommunications company, has issued a notice informing its customers of a scheduled network maintenance operation that will temporarily affect certain services on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am on Monday, October 9, 2023.

In an official statement, Safaricom outlined that the planned maintenance is essential to support innovation and accommodate the growing demand for its services.

During the said period, several services will be available intermittently.

“To support even more innovations and growth in customer demand for our services, we will be carrying out planned network maintenance,” reads the statement.

The service includes Lipa Na M-PESA Pay Bill and Buy Goods, M-PESA business to customer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B), USSD services including *100# and *200#, Daraja Portal and all M-PESA API’s.

Others include M-Shwari, KCB M-PESA and M-Kesho, pinless top-up, loT services, M-PESA App and Safaricom App, international money transfers (Western Union) and MPESA Global as well as M-PESA organization portal, Dealer portal and Lipa na M-PESA portal.

However, Safaricom said that all other services including calls, data and SMS and all other M-PESA services will be available as usual.

In the official statement, Safaricom has since expressed regret for any inconvenience the temporary service disruptions may cause and thanked its customers for their continued support.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support in maintaining our position as the country’s leading provider,” Safaricom said.

This network maintenance comes after Safaricom recently launched a revamped in-country cloud computing platform and services aimed at assisting businesses and organizations in digitizing their operations.
