A 17-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to drugging and later stealing electronic goods worth Sh110, 000 from a man she met in a nightclub.

Before the Mombasa Chief Magistrate, Ms Susan Shitubi, the girl (who cannot be named for legal reasons) said that she stole from Kelvin Kadenya’s home in Tudor over Easter holiday.

The court heard that the accused was arrested at the Kibarani police roadblock aboard a Nairobi bound bus on March 29, 2016 after a tip off from her close friends.

She was detained at Makupa Police Station where Kadenya was called to go and identify if the young lady was indeed the one who had stolen from him.

UNDERAGE

A parade was mounted by the police and the victim was able to pick out the person who had taken away his Sony Xperia Z phone, a laptop, a wrist watch, a handbag, a Play Station machine, and a music system.

Kadenya told the court that on the material day, he had met the accused at Bella Vista Bar and Restaurant along Moi Avenue after being introduced to him by another lady.

“After a few drinks we decided to go to my home for the night and that is when she drugged me and stole my property,” the complainant said.

In mitigation, the accused said that although she was underage, she had a small baby under her care adding that she only committed the offence after being influenced into the act by a third party.

Ms Shitubi ordered that the accused be taken for a medical age assessment before the date of sentencing set for April 7, 2016.
